Fermenter – Accessories

AGITATION UNIT

One of the main accessories of a stirred fermenter is the agitation unit. Instead of a traditional impeller agitator, LAMBDA introduced an up-and-down agitation in the bench-top fermenter and bioreactor to perfectly assure sterility and produce an efficient mixing without formation of a vortex (no baffles needed). At the same time, this up and down mixing is gentler on cells and produces less foam.

DOZITO

The miniature syringe-pump DOZITO is a ferementer accessorie designed for anti-foam dosing. The DOZITO syringe pump is barely larger than the syringe itself. A completely new motion principle is used in the DOZITO syringe pump (no motors, no electromagnets, no compressed gas, and the like).

The setup and use of the DOZITO syringe pump is very easy.

LAMBDA DOZITO miniature syringe-pump for the automatic fermenter anti-foam system

The pump is controlled by the Minifor2Bio fermenter-bioreactor unit depending on the preset parameters and active measurement of the foam level in the fermenter. The Minifor2Bio dispenses one dose of the mechanically preset volume. The miniature syringe pump DOZITO is equipped with a LED indication of the current operating status and communicates with the Minifor2Bio unit through the internal digital interface.

BALANCE

As an optional accessory, LAMBDA offers the Minifor2Bio fermentation system with a specially developed balance. The balance is mainly used together with media pumps for chemostat and perfusion.
This easy-to-use weighing system is equipped with the following functions

  • TARE,
  • DELTA,
  • FREEZE.

All functions are managed via the graphical interface of the Minifor2Bio fermenter & bioreactor unit. The measured values can be linked to other parameters and events using a cascade controller. The weight information is automatically recorded in the internal Minifor2Bio memory.

HAMILTON PROBE EXPANDER

The Hamilton Probe Expanders are optional accessories, used to expand the number of connectable digital probes (ARC technology) from Hamilton.

The expander allows the connection of up to 5 digital probes to the rear of the Minifor2Bio unit (in the PROBES – DIGITAL section).

DEVICE EXPANDER

Add as many devices as needed!

If you need to use more than 6 active Minifor2Bio external peripherals, the device expander is available for another 5 peripherals.

The device expander can be further extended by connecting one expander after the other and, thus, allows for a high number of connected devices to the Minifor2Bio fermenter and bioreactor.

REACTOR VESSELS AND WORKING VOLUME RANGE

The reactor vessel is the heart of the laboratory fermenter and bioreactor: The LAMBDA MINIFOR fermenter and bioreactor series use autoclavable glass vessels (0.3L, 0.4L, 1L, 3L or 7L) for a working volume range from 35 ml to 6 liters and offer enough threaded connections for probes, Fluid ports and the mixing unit with ventilation system

The vessels are made of high-quality borosilicate glass with a large central threaded opening for attaching the LAMBDA EASY STERILTY membrane and the vibromixer.

Up to 8 threaded necks are available for connecting various probes, exhaust air and connections.

Ports

Up to 4 connections are available on a single side connection of the reactor vessel! The connections are for sampling, inoculation, acid/base/anti-foam addition, feeding and harvesting, etc.

The space-saving, laterally protruding connectors allow unhindered access to all connections. reliable multi-sealing plugs are easy to use.

Advantages of using optimized MINIFOR rector vessels:

  • Economical and flexible solution for laboratory scale
  • Optimized user-friendly reactor vessel design
  • Unique ergonomic easy-sterility concept to minimize contamination
  • Perfect view inside the reactor
  • Precise control of process parameters for each fermentation volume
  • Modular and cost-efficient design
  • Increased productivity by eliminating contamination risks

The connections for the probes are designed so that the same probes can be used for reactor vessels of other sizes . This means significant savings compared to laboratory fermenters and bioreactors from other manufacturers. Further details on the advantages of LAMBDA reactor vessels can be found at https://www.lambda-instruments.com/fermenter-bioreactor/optimized-vessel-design/
