Peristaltic liquid pumps

LAMBDA laboratory peristaltic liquid pumps

LAMBDA PRECIFLOW touch, HiFLOW touch, MAXIFLOW touch and MEGAFLOW touch laboratory peristaltic liquid pumps are in use as stand-alone laboratory instruments as well as remote-controlled peripheral devices.

As a result of over twenty years of laboratory experience, LAMBDA developed the peristaltic pumps through the systematic elimination of the imperfections found in other pumps on the market: The special mechanics of LAMBDA laboratory peristaltic liquid pumps have been developed especially for continuous fermentation experiments.

Save expensive laboratory space! All LAMBDA laboratory peristaltic liquid pumps are as compact as possible (each pump needs only about 1 L of volume) and therefore several times smaller than others lab pumps on the market.

Digital speed or Volume flow rate of LAMBDA laboratory peristaltic liquid pumps

For dosing, the LAMBDA laboratory peristaltic liquid pumps offer the choice between digital speed and volume flow rate.
For the volume flow rates, the units can get chosen:

  • ml/h or
  • ml/min.

The user enters simply the correct conversion coefficient on the touch screen.

Digital speed is available in the range of

  • 0 – 1000 rpm for LAMBDA PRECIFLOW touch,
  • 0 – 2800 rpm for LAMBDA HiFLOW touch,
  • 0 – 3200 rpm for LAMBDA MAXIFLOW touch and LAMBDA MEGAFLOW touch.

VOLUMETRIC FLOW RATE CALIBRATION

Dosing time and dispensed volume are the parameters to be set for the volumetric flow rate with optional units rpm, ml/h or ml/min.

LAMBDA laboratory peristaltic liquid pumps provide the flexibility to use various tubing diameters. Thanks to the built-in pump flow calibration feature, it is possible to calibrate the volumetric flow rate based on the tubing.

Volumetric flow rate calibration - pump display

OPERATING INFORMATION

Once the flow rate calibration was performed with the corresponding tubing and pumped substance, the corresponding parameter dispensing time and/or dispensed volume is shown on the pump and can be set as desired.
The pump display shows how much the peristaltic pump was dispensing and how long the process took.

peristatlic pump display shows the name of the liquid, example "MY LIQUID"

LIQUID NAME LIBRARY

The user can create an own library of names of used liquids and then display them on the main screen of the laboratory peristaltic liquid pump.
It is no longer necessary to tape notes on the pumps as to what substance is contained in the tubing!

Pump dosing programs

In addition to constant flow, up to 20 dosing programs can be created and stored in the internal memory of each LAMBDA peristaltic liquid pump. The programs can be managed (created and modified) via computer software.

Each program contains

    • up to 20 different flow values for defined times.

Transitions between flow values can be

      • step (STEP) or
      • linear rising or falling ramp (RAMP).

The dosing direction can be set for each program flow (segment) value:

      • clockwise (CW) or
      • counter-clockwise (CCW).

When starting a pump program, the user can choose what should happen automatically in the end of the program:

    • stop the pump (END) or
    • continue with the last program flow value (CONTINUE) or
    • repeat (REPEAT) the used program a certain number of times.
Up to 100 repeat cycles can be set for each program.
Up to 20 pump dosing programs are saved and shown on the pump display

Pumping Mechanism of LAMBDA peristaltic pumps

The pumping mechanism of LAMBDA peristaltic pumps is unique since instead of small rollers, which are used by most pump producers, bearings of a larger diameter with glass beads are used. The construction reduces pulsations, friction and mechanical strain on the tubing which leads to better pump performance.

LAMBDA peristaltic pump mechanism: 3 big rollers in pump head.

Peristaltic pump heads

The LAMBDA peristaltic pump heads are optimized for reduced pulsation and offer further advantages:

The pressure on the tubing is delivered individually through an off-centre lever and spring made of stainless steel, this allows applying the compression force on the tubing gradually and softly. Instead of common rollers, the LAMBDA peristaltic pumps use special plastic ball bearings with glass beads which require only a minimal force and also the corrosion resistance in the case of a spill is excellent.
The pump head is large and has two centres of asymmetry for reducing pulsation.

LAMBDA provides all peristaltic pump heads with a hard and chemically stabilized coating.

Benefits of great importance for your laboratory

N

Even without any fixation, the tubing will not move in or out of the pump head.
Since the lateral forces on the tubing have been eliminated, no stoppers are required on the pump tubing.

N

Tubing life increases considerably and flow rates remain constant since the tubing compression is kept in the range of the elasticity of the tubing.

N

For reducing long-term costs, the tubing economy is very important, therefore autoclavable low-cost silicone tubing can be used with good results.

LAMBDA PRECIFLOW touch peristaltic liquid pump will be paid back after consumption of about 80 m of tubing.

FAQ

What is the flow range?

Depending on the pump and inner tubing diameter you select, LAMBDA peristaltic pumps offer a range of flow rates from 0.2 µl/min to 60,000 ml/hour.

Is the flow reversible?

Yes. The desired flow can be achieved either by clock-wise (CW) or counterclockwise (CWW) rotation.

How can I calibrate the volumetric flow rate in the LAMBDA peristaltic pumps?

Calibration can be performed in the dosing speed setting by pressing the CALIBRATE icon. Prepare the pump so that you can measure the dispensed volume. Select dosing time (15, 30 or 60 seconds). Press the START button. After calibration, enter the mesured dispensed volume. To access the calibration, it is necessary to set the volume units in the MENU.

Can I get multi-channel pumps?

We do not manufacture multi-channel pumps. Because with the multi-channel pumps it is not possible to achieve the precise and reproducible flow rates with only one pump motor. For the high precision of flow rate, it is not advisable to use the multi-channel pumps.
If one channel gets blocked then your whole project will get spoiled totally. Instead, we recommend having individual pumps.

Why do I need to use LAMBDA individual pumps over multi-channel pump?

It has more advantages over the multi-channel pumps. The most important thing to take into account is the precise, reproducible and steady flow rate.
If one channel gets blocked then your whole project will get spoiled totally.
The bench space required for the needed channel equivalent to individual LAMBDA Pumps is same as that of a single multi-channel pump, because of the compact structure of the LAMBDA Pumps.
The individual pumps can be used in other projects too.

Do you have peristaltic liquid pumps on stock?

Yes, we have the peristaltic liquid pumps in stock. We maintain a large stock of instruments, in order to be able to quickly set them up in the desired configuration and to dispatch them in shortest possible time, within few days!

Could you please provide me with information about the precision of dosing of a LAMBDA peristaltic liquid pump?

The accuracy of the LAMBDA peristaltic liquid pumps is ±5 %.
